On the evening of Saturday, March 22nd, ASCC revived one of its longstanding traditions, the annual Miss ASCC Pageant. The pageant last took place in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic and other logistical challenges caused the postponement of the event until this year. Through the efforts of the ASCC Student Services Division and Student Government Association (SGA) the pageant took place in the MPC Auditorium to the delight of an appreciative audience from the College and the community.
“Our goal for the Miss ASCC Scholarship Pageant is to crown a student who embodies the best of the college,” said SGA Coordinator Ms. Falaileato Suiaunoa, the event’s main organizer, prior to the pageant. “The winner will be the ambassador to our students, faculty and staff, and an honorary member of the SGA. She will represent ASCC at future events throughout her reign, encompassing the holistic view of leadership through service. All our contestants have beauty, brains and talent, and we look forward to them showcasing their abilities for our community.”
Three contestants vied for the title of Miss ASCC 2025-2026. Ms. Glorious Tuigamala-Lisala, 19, sponsored by the Impact Club, is from Leone and pursuing studies with the College’s ACNR/Land Grant Division. Ms. Anastasia Leutele, 23, sponsored by her family, is from Fagaitua and studying Liberal Arts. Ms. Lolomaletaiotumua Faoliu, 20, is from Nuuuli and Leone, and is sponsored by Le Lagaali Atelier and House of Flying Daggers. The contestants were judged across the five categories of Chief Wear, Siva Samoa. Talent Showcase, Formal Wear and Stage Interview. The evening’s program also featured a performance by the ASCC Student Association for Faasamoa and other entertainment between segments.
When the scores for each performance category awarded by the pageant judges had been compiled, Ms. Lolomaletaiotumua Faoliu emerged as the winner and was crowned Miss American Samoa Community College. Ms. Glorious Tuigamala Lisala was first runner up and Anastasia Leutele was the second runner-up. Upon becoming Miss ASCC, Ms. Faoliu will serve as an ambassador of the College, wearing her crown and sash at all official functions during her reign as required. She will also become an Honorary Member of the Student Government Association and a representative of the institution for a full academic year.
The return of the Miss ASCC Pageant generated a significant show of support within the community, most notably from Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata, who issued an official statement that read: “Thank you to each of these talented young women for their joy and all the hard work and planning they put into this event, They reflect well on ASCC and I know they had great support from students and educators and the community that showed up to cheer them on. I am happy that the pageant is back as it contributes to the traditions and opportunities at ASCC, and I know our Miss ASCC will do a wonderful job with her duties. I know these contestants made their friends and family proud, as each of their five categories was impressive, and all those taking part in the event did so well. I want to join in the chorus of people saying congratulations, especially to our Miss ASCC Lolomaletaiotumua!”
Recalling the preparations for the event, Ms. Suiaunoa shared how the SGA played a role in the entire pageant process, from meeting the contestants, shooting promotional photos and videos, selling tickets, building stage sets, and setting up the MPC auditorium for the event. SGA members also served as campus ambassadors to the event’s VIP guests and other attendees. Suiaunoa also credited the efforts of ASCC Dean of Student Services Dr. Emilia Le’i, Pageant Committee members Lia Poloai, Ninna Balauro, Aioise Talamoni, Maria Luardo and Eti Eti, and special advisors Ammon Fepuleai, Fatima Langkilde and Alofia Afalava.
CONNECTIONS wishes the new Miss ASCC Ms. Lolomaletaiotumua Faoliu a successful reign for the academic year, and recognizes the efforts of all involved with making the pageant a great success!
